The overarching objective thisassignment is to provide a) strategic advice and technicalbackstopping for fostering public private medical college institutionsnetwork b) strategic guidance in the first year of roll out - toenhance this public private network role in diseasesurveillance c) support to a community ofpractitioners to share innovations in detection of novel diseases andprepare a comprehensive lessons learnt document with a slide deck topromote knowledge exchange. Specifically, the scope of the proposedassignment aims to:Document organization and keycontributions by the existing PIED network of Government Medical collegesOrganize a consultation with theprivate medical colleges list constraints and opportunities for enhancedprivate sector participation in the PIED networksPropose working models for anetworked PIED cells involving both public and private sectors including keyinputs, processes, and a value proposition for both sectors with appropriatetools for assessing success.Guide implementation research oneffectiveness of functioning of networked PIED cells involving both public andprivate sectors in improving the quality of outbreak investigations andfacilitating knowledge exchange involving experts from public health andmolecular diagnosticsDocument lessons from Kerala PIEDprogram to inform other states and Low-and- Middle-Income countries forcreating similar networks involving medical colleges in disease surveillanceand applied research in outbreak prone and novel diseases.
