Tenders are invited for Blue Carbon Asset Development in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu Coastal and marine ecosystems have the potential to sequester carbon. This so-called blue carbon can be used to generate carbon credits as a revenue stream for conservation and restoration of ecosystems. Given its shoreline of over 7;000 km; India has extensive coastal ecosystems that represent a huge potential for blue carbon. Even though India's blue carbon policy framework and market mechanism are currently developing; they are are still in a nascent stage and only a limited number of blue carbon projects are operational in the country.This assignment will support the Governments of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu to assess the overall potential of blue carbon projects in both states and provide guidance on viable project designs (incl. MRV protocols; financial models and revenue sharing arrangements) as well as capacity building to officials.
