Editing and Translators Consultant Roster for ILO DWT/CO-New Delhi The ILO DWT/CO-New Delhi seeks to enlist experienced consultants and agencies in its roster for various communications activities.Overall scope of workEdit documents with discretion and good judgment in a way that makes them clear and understandable to all. From the expert editorial review, it is expected that there will be a reduction in the size of documents, resulting in savings associated with the translation of the documents to relevant UN languages.  Editor and proof-readerEditors and proofreaders who have experience withworking on journals, academic papers, reports, and technical publications related (but not limited) to labour and employment issues. Those with experience in editing and proofreading for other UN agencies are also encouraged to apply. Specific scope of work Edit texts of a specialized or technical nature to ensure accuracy, clarity, cohesion and conformity with the ILO standards, policy and practice, following the ILO House Style. Ensure that material adheres to established editorial standards and conforms with the ILO policy and practices. Ensure that phraseology and terminology are correct and that the style is appropriate to the audience. Verify the accuracy of facts, figures, references, etc., through research, reference sources and consultation. Identify unclear or ambiguous statements for consideration by the author. Citations and references are to be done in accordance with the ILO House Style.   Eligibility: A university degree in journalism/editing and/or related areas of social sciences (English, Publishing, Media Studies, Political Science, Economics, International Relations, History) is required. Minimum five years editing academic papers, reports and journals related (but not limited) to labour rights issues. Minimum eight years of editing experience if working with other UN agencies/publishing houses, with demonstrated work in non-fiction if working with a publishing house. Translation for UN agencies, iNGOs and funding institutions will be an asset. Journalists, academics and researchers with relevant ILO subject matter expertise with strong editing and proofreading skills are encouraged to apply. Great attention to detail is required.   Qualified candidates are requested to send the following: 5 samples of recent work relevant and/or related to the ILO's mandate. Reports, policy briefs, journal articles and comprehensive media toolkits are to be submitted, preferably in track-change mode, to gauge the applicant's skills. Short articles and social media posts are not to be submitted for this consultancy roster.
