Description : The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia hereby seeks Expression of Interest (EOI) from qualified and experienced vendors to provide consultancy service to support ECA statistical function including data analytics programme using Big Data and innovative tools. The African Centre for Statistics was set up to promote, coordinate, and build the statistical and geospatial data foundation that is required to facilitate ECA reaserch and policy analysis work. The Centre targets issues associated with data collection, processing, and dissemination and archiving. It exploits the opportunities presented by the permeation of innovative tools, techniques and technologies to leverage statistical production process in Member States and sub-regional entities, ensuring that harmonized and quality data are available for the public in general and for ECA policy work in particular. In doing that, the Centre recognizes that not all data required for decision making and monitoring progress fall under the purview of official statistics and hence the need to tap into the potential of Big Data. To this end, the African Centre for Statistic establishes procedures for identifying and ingesting new data ecosystems so as to satisfy the unprecedented demand for data for sustainable development.
