Schlumberger receives $185 million Statoil drilling project Power and Energy

Schlumberger Norway has been awarded a contract worth $185 million (NOK 1.15 billion) with Statoil to deliver integrated drilling services for the Norwegian continental shelf licenses Gullfaks, Gullfaks Satellites, Snorre, Statfjord , Tordis/Vigdis, Visund.

Drilling exploration activities on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) are also covered under the deal.

The contract has a base period of two years and also three optional extensions, each for two years, scheduled to commence on September 1, 2014.

Over the next two years, the contract will facilitate employment to over 350 people in Schlumberger Norway.

The scope of work includes the delivery of directional drilling, measurement while drilling(MWD), logging while drilling (LWD) and mud logging services. Furthermore, Schlumberger Norway will provide RT data transfer, integrated operations/onshore support, drilling optimization and drilling equipment.

Schlumberger Norway holds broader operational experience on the respective licenses and NCS exploration and has been providing the services under this scope for the past years.

The contract ensures supply of services and efficient personnel, which checks cost efficient functioning through standardization and concentrate on the quality of equipment and services. It adds up to Statoil’s target area of safe and efficient drilling, says, Geir Tungesvik, senior vice president, drilling and well in Statoil.

The contract type assures access to major drilling technologies as well as multidisciplinary work processes. Extended relationship between Statoil and Schlumberger Norway will be essential in fully applying Schlumberger Norway’s technical and operational proficiency.

Schlumberger Norway provided the best combined technical and commercial offer, hence secured the contract award.
