Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) awarded a leak detection contract worth $4mn to Pure Technologies (Pure) over a three-year period commencing June 2014.
The contract facilitates leak detection services on a significant area of Kahramaa's large-diameter pipeline network, which is unfavorable for the distribution of processed, desalinated water for home, industrial and commercial users.
All these operations will be handled by Pure, through its Abu Dhabi based set up. SmartBall technology a proprietary by Pure Tech will be employed for pipelines between 600mm to 1600mm in diameter during the contract duration. It is a fresh, free-swimming assessment technology created to work in a live pipeline, locating minute leaks, gas pockets and structural flaws.
