Petronas awards PMC project to Technip-Fluor Power and Energy

Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has awarded Technip-Fluor consortium with the Programme Management Consultancy contract for the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project in Pengerang, Johor.

According to the national oil company, the contract involves the overall project and site management, project management services for specific engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) packages within RAPID throughout the pre-award, EPCC as well as warranty management and close-out phases.

RAPID is part of the substantial Petronas Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) development, whose related facilities include the Pengerang Co-generation Plant, Re-gasification Terminal 2, Air Separation Unit, Raw Water Supply Project as well as Crude and Product Tanks, which is under Malaysia's Economic Transformation Programme to develop new engines of growth for Malaysia.

The overall estimated cost of RAPID goes to US$16 billion (RM51.3 billion) while the related facilities will consist an investment of about US$11 billion.

PIC is poised for its refinery start up by early 2019.
