Premier Oil, operator of the Sea Lion field in the North Falkland Basin, has officially awarded the tension leg platform (TLF) front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract to oilfield engineering firm AMEC.

The activities on the Sea Lion project continues to advance, as well as the operational stipulation and foundation of the TLP design being decided and the award of the FEED contract, a geotechnical survey will be carried out at the Sea Lion platform during the second half of 2014. The survey results will be integrated into the FEED process, which is likely to take about 12 months to complete.

The FEED contract for the Sea Lion field has been officially awarded to a world class engineering company such as AMEC. This is a extremely substantial milestone in our projects to develop the findings and comes on the back of our new announcement that a rig has been inked to take on a new exploration drilling operation in the North Falkland Basin early next year. We are delighted and looking forward to continue work closely with Premier as we move the Sea Lion project towards final investment decision, says, Rockhopper CEO Sam Moody.
