Nkilongo’s major water project to finally start functioning

One of the major projects which were implemented by Nkilongo Constituency about three years ago, will finally come to conclusion before the end of this year’s first quarter.

This is the multi-million Emalangeni water project which was started in early 2015, situated near Matata.

The project, was listed as a priority due to the fact that the constituency is predominantly a Lowveld which faces a scarcity of water.

It was established for the purpose of supplying several surrounding communities which include Gamula, Mahlabaneni, Mndobandoba and others.

Constituency Headman Nkosinathi Mamba yesterday reported that the project will be fully functional in a few weeks. Mamba acknowledged that the project should have been completed early last year. He stated that, however, due to some technicalities, the project was delayed. He disclosed that the main part of the project, which includes the pumping system, is ready to start operating.

Mamba said the contractor was currently working on verifying the piping system to ensure that there are no leakages along the line. The project is expected to supply hundreds of families under the constituency. Mamba said they are also expecting SWADE tomorow to make a final inspection on the project.
