J&P Overseas awards Oman Airport project to WSP Transport and Related Services

The international contractor Joannou & Paraskevaides (J&P) Overseas Ltd. has awarded Canada-based WSP to work on two airport facilities in Oman and extensive highway works in Qatar.

WSP is will facilitate detailed designs for the Maintenance and Cargo facilities at Muscat Airport and the second is a cargo facility at Salalah Airport, Oman. Together the developments include 150,000 square meters with the maintenance hangar at Muscat sufficient to take in an A380 and two Code C aircrafts at the same time.

The scope of work includes civil, structural, building services and specialist support services comprising fire, acoustics & security.

Targeting the Middle East market for some time now, we have been projecting our expertise and have laid down a good market presence for infrastructure and commercial development. We will be aiming to establish on this success by our global counterparts.

Other than the projects in Oman, WSP will facilitate full highway design services consisting bridges and civil engineering structures for a segment of the New Orbital Highway project in Qatar. The works covers 45 km of dual five lane highway and a two lane truck highway and four major grade split junctions.

Presently WSP is working on Qatar’s Airport City project near the new Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha. WSP, in collaboration with Qatar's Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), is building up the master plan for the mixed-used development covering 10 million square meters of land.
