Al-Nubra: Strengthening Public-Private Partnership

Doha - A seminar hosted by the Qatar Chamber yesterday confirmed the encouragement of the private sector to participate in the housing projects of workers. And revealed the provision of government land in different areas and at nominal prices. A seminar was held at Qatar Chamber yesterday, in which representatives from the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, the Public Works Authority and the General Authority for Electricity and Water participated. During the meeting, the discussion was moderated by Mr. Rashid bin Hamad Al-Erba, Second Vice-President of the Qatar Chamber.

The seminar was attended by Mr. Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Tawar Al Kuwari, First Vice President, Board of Directors, Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Thani, a number of businessmen and representatives of Qatari companies. The seminar focused on introducing private housing projects to the private sector in order to strengthen the principle of public-private partnership, as well as listening to the views of the private sector, whether in terms of labor projects or the future direction that ensures the sustainability of investment and achieving high efficiency in the partnership.

Strengthening partnership

Mr. Rashid bin Hamad Al-Neshbah said that the Chamber, in light of its keenness to solve all the obstacles facing the development of the private sector and its real participation in development, organized this meeting to find out the reality of workers' housing and the decisions related to the transfer of workers from existing dwellings, Comply with the requirements And the availability of alternative housing, in addition to the participation of the private sector in workers' housing projects, in order to promote the principle of partnership between the public and private sectors.

For his part, Mr. Tariq Al-Tamimi, Chairman of the Committee for the Study of Strategy and Projects of Workers Housing, presented the privileges and government support to the private sector in this regard, including: Providing government land in different areas of the country in large and small areas, providing a nominal rent of QR2 per square meter, Long-term investment 52 years, the provision of an integrated infrastructure in partnership with the private sector, and the adoption of the minimum requirements and standards of universal labor accommodation by 6 square meters minimum per worker, which increases the absorptive capacity of housing workers.

Among these privileges were the provision of accommodation for female workers, the maintenance of the minimum bed rental prices per worker at a value of 100-150 riyals per month, the granting of approvals for the provision of service, commercial and recreational activities with workers 'housing projects, the conversion of temporary workers' Such as the Umm al-Zubar site, issued notices to vacate the housing Workers of illegal farms and villas for residential Ahlalhm within the organized labor accommodation, in addition to the legal obligation of major companies and government agencies renting organized workers housing labor cities of real estate development companies, and to impose financial and criminal penalties for offenders, preventing competition of government companies and semi-h Komeh companies from the private sector.
