SWE UmweltService GmbH (SWE US for short) is a company of the Stadtwerke Erfurt Group (SWE for short) and operates the residual waste treatment plant (RABA for short) at the Erfurt-Ost location. The RABA was built in 2006 and is a combination system of mechanical Treatment plant (MBA), energy recovery plant (EnVA) and sewage sludge drying plant (KTA). In the RABA, a waste throughput of 9.75 t/h is thermally recycled using a 3-pass boiler. After leaving the boiler, the flue gas from the RABA Exhaust gas purification is carried out. The exhaust gas is aftertreated there using Ca(OH)2 and HOK. Fabric filters are used to remove dust from the flue gas. Finally, the cleaned flue gas becomes a silencer via an induced draft fan and fireplace. At the outlet of the suction draft, the flue gas has a temperature of approx. 145 °C. The combustion heat output is 26 MWth. The steam generated is used to drive an extraction condensation turbine with an electrical output of 4 MWel and used to dry sewage sludge. The exhaust steam is recooled using an air condenser (Luko). In order to increase RABA's energy efficiency and save CO2 emissions, RABA is now to have a system for using flue gas heat (RGWNutz system) can be expanded.
