SCI has started to strength it’s Child survival Programs in Somalia. SCI’s Child
survival program is geared towards quick impact by having the communities’
access to emergency health, nutrition and WASH response by providing integrated
programming targeting the most vulnerable children and Pregnant and lactating
mothers in Somalia, particularly southern states. In order to serve all these
beneficiaries SCI team needs comprehensive data base system, that can be stored
and retrieved any point in time, for future usage. so There is also need to map and
report easily with all activities implemented by child survival team in all target
locations. There is limited knowledge among the staff aboutRelationalDatabase
Management Systems (RDBMS) producing infographics maps for these target
locations.
RDBMS is a database management system based on relational model defined by
E.F. Codd. Data is stored in the form of rows and columns. The relations among
tables are also stored in the form of the table. With an RDBMS, it is possible to
embed a collection of programs or capabilities, enabling IT and other related teams
to create, edit, update, manage and interrelate with a relational database. Structured
query language (SQL) is implemented by most commercial/noncommercial
RDBMS systems for accessing the database.
The training will cover the following topics:
1. Microsoft Access
2. Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
3. MySQL
Aim
To equip the participants with appropriate knowledge and skills development and
management of relational databases.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this training all participants should be able to:
1. i) Understand Relational database management system.
2. ii) Integrate and create Relational databases.
? iii) Design and use distributed databases
The training will cover the following topics:
1. Introduction to infographic Dashboards concepts

2. What do we need to make Dashboards?
3. Which type of Dashboard to use, static or interactive?
4. Preparing your datasets
5. Introduction to GIS Software (ArcGIS)
Methodology
The methodology of the training will be a mix of presentations of 30% Lecture and
participatoryand 70% practicalexercises such as group work,
The training will be delivered in English language but Somali native person in
order for all training attendants to understand 100% of training topics.
The consultant is expected to be fully in charge for all stages of the training and
work in close cooperation with the SC Somalia team. The tasks include the
following:
? Designing the program for the training
? Establishing the content and methodologies for each session
? Designing training materials and handouts for participants
? Conducting the training within the given time frame
? Evaluating learning and making any recommendations for further steps
? Documenting training results (the training should include a pre and post
learning assessment for participants)
The training will start on 22nd
-29th June 2019 excluding Friday.
The training participants are open to staff from child survival team in Southern
states.
Expected Outputs
1. Delivery of the training within the given time frame
2. Session plans and presentations used in the training
3. High level workshop report of not more than 10 pages
Required Expertise for the Consultant:
1. Degree in Social Work, Psychology or similarly appropriate
educational/professional background
2. In-depth and strong knowledge regarding SGBV response, particularly in
humanitarian settings
3. Proven knowledge of development and humanitarian sector particularly in
the fields of capacity building and knowledge about SGBV issues
4. Experience in SGBV programming, including experience with case
management and support services for survivors

5. Experience organizing and delivering trainings
6. Experience in Somalia or similar contexts preferred
7. Fluent in written and spoken English; in addition, Somali language skills
strongly preferred
Duration
Nine days, seven in class and two days for preparation, for development, delivery,
reporting and finalization of materials.
