Description : WHO wishes to support the MOHS of Sierra Leone to strengthen the quality of maternity services in target healthcare facilities, in which effective triaging, vital signs monitoring, and the appropriate referral of pregnant and postpartum women is delivered by trained, confident and equipped health care workers. Accurate blood pressure measurement and appropriate response will contribute to reducing maternal mortality due to pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, infection and shock. A devise that supports health workers in making these decisions is available: the CRADLE Vital Signs Alert (VSA) is an accurate, easy-to-use, portable, and has low power requirements; it meets the World Health Organization`s requirements for use in low resource settings.
Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) have 3, 000 of these CRADLE VSA devices available for use in all healthcare facilities (716 facilities) in 8 districts in Sierra Leone.
Under the overall guidance of the WHO Representative to the Sierra Leone Country Office and direct supervision of the WHO Country Office Basic Package of Essential Services Coordinator and Reproductive Health Team Lead, the selected organization will work with the national authorities and other relevant stakeholders to train all antenatal healthcare providers at 716 selected facilities in 8 districts as agreed with the MOHS, who work in ANC and other maternity services, in the use of CRADLE VSA and the actions to take when hypertensive disorders are identif...
