Deforestation in Sao Tome and Principe has increased dramatically over the last few years. This phenomenon is linked to various causes, including the encroachment of forest land for cultivation, the use of wood to produce charcoal as a domestic energy source, the planting of productive species such as olive palms and the felling of trees foronstruction. The Forestry Directorate`s ability to control and supervise is limited due to the lack of technical and material resources, mainly due to the lack of a clear and integrated policy for the sustainable management of forests. sustainable and climate resilient hydroelectric power throughof an approach that integrates land and forest management "better known as the ENERGY Project, funded through the United Nations Development Program - UNDP, by the Global Environment Fund (GEF). This strategy provides an opportunity to undertake a communication campaign that changes the behaviors and attitudes of leaders, decision makers, entrepreneurs and the general population on the issue of sustainable forest management. Indeed, given the socioeconomic vulnerability of Sao Tome and Principe, the forest can contribute to improvingfood security, to improve household economies through income-generating activities or medium-term investments, ensure water for all uses, attract tourists and contribute to theconservation of the global environment.
