Tender Details

Tenders are invited for Remote Consultancy: Editing of Burundi Country Office Annual Report.

Background and Justification

Burundi, a small landlocked country in the Great Lakes region with an estimated 11.7 million people (ISTEEBU 2016), is one of the poorest countries in the world.

Prior to the crisis of 2015 that affected the most vulnerable disproportionately, more than 6 out of 10 people (65%, ECVMB[1] 2013-14) were living below the national poverty line[2] and more than 7 out of 10 living below the international poverty line of USD 1.25 (70%, ECVMB 2014). Children are disproportionately higher affected by this monetary poverty: 69% of children under 18 years are living in households that do not have enough financial means to cater for their basic needs; 74% and 86% of children are growing up in poverty if the international thresholds of USD 1.25 and USD 1.90, respectively, are considered.

The Burundi Country Office is preparing its Annual Report for the year 2018 which is the final year of the current Country Programme cycle. As this Annual Report is written at an overall busy time for the office at the end of year while the country office is also in full planning mode for the start of the new programme cycle (2019-2023), an editor will be recruited to help with the finalisation of the report specifically for editing.
