BackgroundUNICEF, in accordance with its Charter and Mission Statement, works with governments, Civil Society Organizations and other partners in more than one hundred and sixty countries to advance children-s rights to survival, protection, development, and participation, and in doing so is guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child.UNICEF will continue to provide support to the Government of Sierra Leone in its efforts to ensure access to essential services. A core element of this partnership includes UNICEF support in procurement and distribution of essential supplies required in the implementation of programs towards attaining global targets for sustainable development.
