Due to the large number of planned and already constructed OWPs and submarine cables that are in operation, the usable space is limited, so that the dismantling of old OWPs and cables or the reuse of OWP areas and submarine cable routes is increasingly necessary is discussed. OWPs currently in operation have an operating life of 20 to 25 years, after which they are to be completely dismantled. Experience with nature-friendly dismantling is largely missing or limited. Both those Technical possibilities and the associated effects on marine nature are difficult to estimate. The “Offshore Dismantling” project is intended to provide an overview of technical developments and practical examples using literature and practical examples Practically implementable dismantling options, both for offshore wind turbines (OWEA), here primarily including the foundation and scour protection, as well as for submarine cables and converter platforms, are available and, if necessary, already tested. Especially the current ones Technical developments and testing of methods must be considered (WP 1). Based on this, the dismantling of the various components should be carried out according to their compatibility with nature, i.e. according to their predictable effects on marine nature. described and evaluated (WP 2) and thus a basis for decision-making for future procedures can be developed. It is also necessary to assess the need for action and research with regard to applicability and further development (WP 3).
