International Consultant for the creation and operation of a national agency for the promotion of biodigester technology
Guinea, as a country party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, has received funding under GEF 5 for a project to create a market for the development of biogas Guinea. This project, which started in 2016 for a period of 4 years, provides for the installation of 2, 000 domestic bio digesters from6 m3 of capacity each for lighting and cooking and10 industrial units of 25 to 150 m3 in cogeneration with a diesel group to produce electricity. It also provides for: (i) the setting up of a frame legal incentive for investors in the field of bio-digester technology, (ii) technical capacity building andlocal human resource entrepreneurs to provide the basis for technology diffusion by the private sector. The main achievements of the project are: The installation of 1217 bio household digesters in 135 rural / urban communes for access to cooking gas and lighting for as many households in rural areas 02 households benefiting from biodigesters have fish ponds 02 organic bio-digesters are installed and functional: 222 masons trained by the project have taken over the technology06 technical supervisors and 13 companies in the approved biogas sector operate in the field: 85% of the national territory is covered by the project (28 prefectures out of 33 in the countrys) 57 agricultural extension workers are trained by the project for the use of bio-digester effluents as organic fertilizers (60 tonnes per year per bio-digester), 73020 tonnes of effluents harvested a year improve soil fertility and feed ponds The above, it appears that the development and widespread use of thebio-digester technology is an effective and efficient solution to provide the vast majority of households in rural areas with cooking gas and electricity, to ensure food security by and for households through low-carbon family farms.
