In 2019, the Government of Sao Tome and Principe, the Regional Government of Prncipe Island, UNDP and other national and international partners finalized the development plan for the autonomous region of Principe Island, called PRINCIPE2030. This plan aims to integrate efforts and consolidate partnerships with the aim of achieving the Goals forSustainable Developmentin the Autonomous Region of Principe. Implementation of this development plan requires the involvement and commitment of government leadership, its partners, but equally important, requires that the public administration structure at various levels be able to achieve planned. As part of the implementation of the planPrincipe2030, the Regional Government requested UNDPsupport for capacity building in the area of monitoring and evaluation of SDG indicators, addressed to its managers and sectoral technical bodies, as well as to members of the Local Monitoring Committee of that Plan. Agenda 2030 was adopted by United Nations Member States at the post-2015 Summit in New Yorkwhat. The PRINCIPE2030 Plan follows the 2030 Agenda, as wellas the 2063 Agenda defined by the African States. Sao Tome and Principe is a signatory to both agendas. The final Agenda 2030 document explicitly refers to statistics and indicators as a key instrument for implementing the SDGs and for monitoring countries` progress in their implementation.In this document reference is made to the need for "high quality, timely and viable data disaggregated by income, age, race, ethnicity, migratory status, physical disability and geographical location." responsibility for coordinating the follow-up monitoring work of the Prince2030.
