Title:Feasibility Studies for the proposed Luapula River Hydro-Electric SchemeBackgroundZambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have decided to jointly expedite the development ofhydropower on the common sites of the transboundary Luapula River. An Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding (IGMOU) betweenZambia and DRC was signed on July 9, 2015 in Kinshasa, DRC. An Inter-Utility Memorandum of Understanding (IUMOU) was signed betweenthe Power Utilities ? ZESCO LTD and SNEL-SA? on the same date. Power Utilities have been mandated by the Governments of Zambia and DRC to develop the Luapula RiverHydroelectric Scheme.
