The preparation of new drivers varies internationally in terms of structure, duration, teaching and learning methods, examination procedures and legal and institutional framework conditions. At the same time, systems continue to evolve, in particular through new approaches such as graduated driving license systems, accompanied driving and digital teaching and learning formats. There is currently no current, systematic and comparative knowledge base that takes these developments into account. Target benefit goal of The project is to update and expand the existing international comparison of novice driver preparation, building on the BASt reports from 1995 and 2013. The current systems of selected European and international countries should be systematically recorded, comparatively analyzed and processed, also with a view to their traffic safety-relevant effects and efficiency aspects. For this purpose, a comparative analysis is carried out along central characteristic dimensions, in particular Entry requirements, teaching and learning methods, examination formats, quality assurance as well as traffic safety and efficiency. The goal is a structured overall view of the different system approaches as well as the identification of similarities, differences and Lines of development. The results must be prepared in a final scientific report that presents the methodology transparently, documents the country systems and enables a comparative assessment. The report serves as a well-founded one Reference basis for the specialist public, administration and research and supports the further development of novice driver preparation in Germany.
