Dear Madam, Dear Sir, The Democratic Republic of Congo repeatedly faces challenges epidemics, leading to the organization of numerous response and catch-up vaccination campaigns each year. These interventions, combined with routine vaccination activities, result in the use of a very large volume of vaccine vials and, consequently, the production of a considerable quantity of vaccine waste. The implementation of these campaigns generates a significant accumulation of waste at the Kinkole Logistics Hub, the main entry point for vaccines in the country. There Managing this waste constitutes a major challenge, both at this Hub and at the various vaccination service delivery points across the country. In fact, tons of waste are produced daily during recycling operations. reception, storage and distribution of vaccines, while vaccine waste managers do not have adequate structures dedicated to their safe disposal. In order to overcome these inadequacies, the Central Directorate of the EPI and UNICEF combine their efforts to improve the management of vaccine waste.
