Tender Details

Tenders are invited for Capacity Building Training on Efficient Sales and Marketing for Insurance Agents in Ghana.

Despite the significant progress that has been made in recent years with regard to poverty reduction, the socio-economic development in Ghana faces the challenges of insufficient social security and the unequal distribution of economic opportunities, income and wealth. In the financial sector particularly, the upper income groups benefit from a positive market development. The percentage of Ghanaians who hold a bank account has, for example, increased from 29% in 2011 to 35% in 2014. However, financial products are often not aligned to the needs of low-income population groups. Therefore, large parts of the population still do not have access to needs-oriented, responsible financial services.

Approximately 85% of the economically active population- of Ghana is working in the informal sector. Therefore, a core problem in the financial sector is the limited access and use of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and economically active low-income households to innovative and demand-oriented financial services, particularly insurance. Against this background, the core problem to be addressed by the GIZ Programme for Sustainable Economic Development (PSED) in Ghana is that the use of financial services, especially by MSMEs, is reasonably increased. To do so, continuous sensitization of sales reps and marketing agents on ethical and responsible marketing is necessary to sanitizing the insurance market of untoward tendencies. GIZ seeks to contract the services of a local consulting firm to undertake: a series of hands-on training for insurance agents and sales executives, through capacity building workshops on effective sales and marketing in Ghana.

SCOPE AND METHODOLOGY;

For geographical scope, the training is national. Yet it will be zonalised into Greater Accra, Western, Eastern and Northern Ghana cohorts, covering all the insurance agents in the ten regions of Ghana. The methodology to be adopted will include but not limited to participatory workshop model and other adult learning methodologies to deliver effective training outcomes.
