vulnerability assessment scan
the purpose and objectives of this project is to evaluate the overall effectiveness of the existing security controls and to demonstrate a reasonable standard of care with respect to the application and testing of security mechanisms that are in place to protect the department`s it assets.
the purpose of the web application vulnerability assessment is to:
• find vulnerabilities in the web application, operating system or servers using two (2) or more well-known and established commercial security tools. the web application scanning will identify/ find security threats that would allow access to the web application or operation system.
• provide recommendations for security related decisions and configuration of hardware and software for the two (2) web applications.
• provide manual penetration testing capabilities (none destructive) to find security threats across the web application (database/files) and endpoints (ftp site),
• analyze the results, rule out false positives, prioritize the confirmed vulnerabilities/threats and provide recommendations and steps for immediate remediation.
the purpose of the vulnerability assessment scan is to:
• find vulnerabilities in department of energy public facing web applications and services using two or more well-known and established commercial security tools,
• prioritize the vulnerabilities and report these findings to the department of energy,
• contribute to demonstrating a reasonable standard of care with respect to the application and testing of security mechanisms to protect the department`s it assets.
