Formerly known as the meetings, conventions and incentive travel unit under destination canada's prior name, the canadian tourism commission.
Business events canada ("bec") helps meeting planners bring corporate, association and incentive events to canada and is dedicated to helping meeting, event and incentive organizers connect with canadian business events partners. Bec assists in gathering bids from across canada — from a simple dates and rates check, to coordinating multiple venues in multiple locations. Bec aims to be a meeting planner's first point of contact to consider and source canada for their meetings, providing expert, impartial advice on where to consider in canada based on the meeting or event specifications, connections to bec's partners in canada, site inspection support, best practices for logistics and planning support.
Bec requires an online venue and location sourcing event management ("vlsem") system that enables meeting & event planners ("planners") to gather proposals from destination marketing organizations, convention and visitors bureaus, hotels and venues for meetings, incentives and events.
