Region Southern Denmark plans to carry out tenders for client consultancy in connection with carrying out laboratory and field tests of possible methods for cleaning up the pollution plume from the former Grindstedværket's factory site (hereafter referred to as the pollution plume). Based on the test results and the Region's other available knowledge about the pollution plume, a draft project for the clean-up must be prepared. In autumn 2025, the Regional Council of Region Southern Denmark adopted the action plan "The road to a clean-up". at Grindsted Å", which includes the activities that need to be carried out in order to create a basis for cleaning up the pollution that seeps with the groundwater from the former Grindsted plant's factory grounds and into Grindsted Å. Vinyl chloride and pharmaceutical substances (sulfonamides and barbiturates) constitute the most significant pollutants.
