The floors in most of the Health Centres owned by the South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) are covered with a homogenous, seamless vinyl. Others are a mixture of terrazzo, epoxy and ceramic tiles. In an effort to protect the floors from wear, the surfaces must be cleaned and polished. It is the South-West Regional Health Authority-s intention to contract a qualified and competent supplier to perform the stripping, sealing and polishing of floors on a quarterly or semi-annual basis as required. These works can only be done on weekends or overnight. Contractors must have experience in the use of appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment and staff shall ensure that adequate ventilation is maintained throughout the execution of the works. Contractors must also provide adequate labour and equipment including trolleys for the relocation of furniture, as damage to the floor surface would lead to possible microorganism growth.
