Synopsis: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention i(CDC) nitends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Southern Light Rail Inc., doing business as SOUTHERN CROSSROADS (SoX). SoX is the only available connection point for Internet 2 that does not require extending the CDC network to another State or region. The Internet 2 network is a high bandwidth and limited access network that dedicate to Education and Research facilities and organizations (http://www.internet2.edu). The SoX Internet 2 connection point at Georgia Tech is the sole provider for Internet 2 connectivity in the Southern US. Internet 2 Network Internet 2 Health Sciences Initiative (http://www.internet2.edu/pubs/200909-JS-HS.pdf) access to high bandwidth connections without competing commercial (Internet 1) traffic, allowing for collaboration on large projects: OHIN Grid Computing Cloud Services High Performance Computing (HPC) Groundwater Contamination Simulation Genomics. There are no other Internet 2 connection points in the Southern US and SoX is the only provider of Internet 2 service. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and USC 2304(c)(1). Interest persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals.This notice of intent is not to a request for competitive quotations, however all quotations/responses received within five (5) calendar days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a a competitive procurement.
