Description
The purpose of this sources sought notice is to conduct market research and identify potential sources of commercial products/services that satisfy the Government-s anticipated needs.
BACKGROUND
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Physical Measurements Laboratory (PML), Quantum Measurement Division (QMD), Mass and Force Group (MFG) has maintained and operated six (6) deadweight machines (DWM-s) since 1965. Thousands of measurements, through countless force calibrations, have been performed over the lifespan of these machines. In support of these machines, we require a forklift for installing and removing devices for testing in these dead weight machines. The current electric model (circa 1962) is beginning to fail and lacks many safety features available on newer machines.
To meet these requirements the Government requires one (1) electric forklift to NIST Gaithersburg campus. The lift will be used to improve the safety features and replace an aging forklift to support our force calibration service.
NIST is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a solution that will achieve the objectives described above, in addition to the following essential requirements:
