Description: The World Bank Kenya is hiring the services of a consultant (firm) to undertake series of analyses covering: (i) the source streams (typology), flows and threats of marine litter and fishing ghost gear in the management (conservation) of marine ecosystems and local development; and (ii) building a market circular economy in the fisheries sector in five coastal counties (Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River, and Lamu) in Kenya. These Terms of Reference (ToR) describe the context of the engagement and specify the roles, responsibilities and expected deliverables of the consultant team. The consultant will participate in all aspects of the research design, implementation, data analysis and dissemination of results. On the major technical and implementation issues, the consultant is expected to work independently and to engage with a wide range of stakeholders at the World Bank and Government of Kenya. This consultancy, funded by PROBLUE[1] will require travel to a select number of counties in Kenya to undertake research activities and share results.
