Tender Details

ENAGAS intend to conduct a reconnaissance survey to perform the analysis of route alternatives and select the corridor of the BarMar subsea pipeline project. The purpose of the reconnaissance survey is to allow the evaluation of feasibility for potential routes for the offshore pipeline to connect Barcelona to Marseille across the Mediterranean Sea. Potential routes to be assessed include at least the Deep Water route option which descends from Barcelona to the abyssal plain to a maximum depth of 2, 600m, before rising on to the continental shelf and making landfall in Fos sur Mer, France, and the Shallow Water Coastal route option which follows the shallower waters of the continental shelf. This comprehensive evaluation will allow to identify a preferred corridor for BarMar, and will consider technical, economic, environmental, and societal perspectives, emphasizing the commitment of the three Transmission System Operators (TSOs) to a well-rounded and sustainable approach. It is anticipated that acquisition will be required across a 400m route corridor, using appropriate hull mounted and towed equipment in order to characterise the surficial and shallow sub-seabed along the two route options. Equipment will be appropriate to water depths and may include, but is not limited to Multibeam Echosounder, Sidescan Sonar, Sub Bottom Profiler, 2D UHR Seismic, and Gradiometer.
