Description : PROJECT OVERVIEW a) Project Background- Current, accurate imagery is the foundational information source for many decisions made on a daily basis by a significant number of Government of Alberta (GoA) staff. Updated imagery is required as a direct or indirect input into the following applications, and many more: • Situational awareness before, during, or after emergencies; • Change detection; • Updates to core geospatial datasets (roads, cutlines, trails, hydrography, human footprint, industrial footprint, riparian areas, landuse, land cover, etc.); • Map updates, and to be used as part of our dynamic online mapping applications; • Safe and effective management of our roads and highways; • Effective forest, wildfire, and wildlife management; • Optimization of field visits; • During response to public inquiries and complaints; • For effective application review, and permit issuance; • Performance of compliance audits and inspections; • To provide evidence of infractions, and • During enforcement of provincial regulations. Anthropogenic activities and natural events precipitate changes on the landscape, which trigger the requirement for imagery refresh to support the afore-mentioned activities and understand their consequences.
