The National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) identifies Food and Gastronomy as one of the priority products for development, aligned with the NTDP-s vision of anchoring the tourism industry on the strength of Filipino culture, heritage, and identity. In line with the goal of diversifying its product portfolio through multidimensional tourism, food tourism is considered an essential element in deepening the Philippine cultural experience.
In line with the NTDP-s strategic thrust to prioritize food and gastronomy as key drivers for enhancing the country-s competitiveness in Asia and globally, the Department of Tourism (DOT) conducted a culinary audit of the Greater Manila Area and Cebu from August to October 2024. This initiative marks an important first step toward elevating Philippine gastronomy to global standards.
