The national cancer institute seeks to procure a philips healthcare large bore, dual energy computed tomography (ct) simulator for radiation therapy patient image acquisition as a replacement for and existing but obsolete unit; philips brilliance big bore.
The radiation oncology branch of the center for cancer research (ccr) treats cancer patients with radiation from linear accelerators according to approved clinical protocols or as standard of care. As an essential part of the treatment process, ct image sets must be acquired with the patient in the treatment position. This requires a ct simulator with a large (85cm) bore. The radiation oncology branch has such a device, but it is technologically obsolete. This requirement is intended to replace the obsolete unit with one that has state-of-the-art capabilities; especially for the emerging field of molecular markers, which necessitates image acquisition at two distinct x-ray energies. The following products are required for this requirement:
• big bore rt platinum ct simulator to include:
o 85cm physical bore size, with 60cm true and 70cm extrapolated fields of view
o gantry tilt of -30 to +30
o choice of spiral (helical) with cone beam reconstruction or axial scanning.
O provision of dynamic focal spot to double data sampling density
o flat therapy patient couch which su...
