Description: BACKGROUNDUniversal Health Care (UHC) coverage can only be achieved when all Health Care Facilities (HCFs) have access to fully functioning basic Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Services in Healthcare Facilities that are indispensable in providing quality care, infection prevention and control (IPC) practices, and environments that respect the dignity and human rights of all care seekers.The 2019 WHO/UNICEF JMP Baseline Report on WASH in HCFs shows that in least developed countries, only 55% of HCFs had basic water, 21% had no sanitation services, and 16% had no hygiene services in place. Only 27% of HCFs had functioning basic waste management services. There was insufficient data to estimate levels of basic cleaning services. In Papua New Guinea (PNG), only 2% of HCFs have piped water, with not all of these on the premises.
