Tender Details

The fish hatchery is located in the premises of Länsi-Suomen Voima Oy's Harjavalla hydroelectric power plant, and the operation of the hatchery is in charge of the Southwest Finland Vitality Centre. The operation of the hatchery started in 2016 and the main species of the hatchery is peregrine falcon. There is also for the season 2025-2026 acquired equipment that enables the hatching of both salmon and trout along with whitefish. The operation of the hatchery includes a whole, where the mother fish are caught from Kokemäenjoki, the roe is fertilized and incubated over the winter in the hatchery. The work will end in the spring the technical maximum capacity of the hatchery in terms of the amount of roe to be hatched is about 200 liters for grayling and about 30 liters for salmon and trout in total. Peregrine falcon brooding is carried out in hatching funnels (24 pcs) and salmon and trout roe in hatching tools (40 pcs). All reared fish fry are reserved for the Vitality Center's use, the sale of fry to outside parties is prohibited. The Vitality Center of Southwest Finland uses water and fisheries fees determined in environmental permits to compensate for the disadvantages of the fishery based on the utilization plans of the fisheries fees. Funding the operation of the hatchery is part of the Kokemäenjoki power plant's fisheries fee utilization plan.
