1.1 A polysomnography machine (PSG) is a medical device used to diagnose and treat sleep-related disorders such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Central Sleep Apnea, Hypopneas, and Respiratory Effort Related Arousals (RERAs) through the monitoring of various parameters such as Electroencephalogram (EEG), Electrooculogram (EOG), Electromyogram (EMG), airflow, nasal pressure, respiratory effort, and pulse oximetry.
