1. Contractor is to provide all labor, materials, supervision and equipment to perform inspecting and testing of the entire wet fire sprinkler systems and all components located within our 500, 000 square-foot medical facility. All testing shall comply with nfpa 25, water-based fire protection systems handbook, 2017 (or updated) edition. This will be a base plus four option year contract .
All fire sprinkler technicians shall be certified by the national institute for certification in engineering technologies (nicet).
Contractors shall have ready access to the latest versions of the following references:
nfpa 101, life safety code
nfpa 99, health care facilities.
Nfpa 72, national fire alarm code.
Nfpa 25, water based fire protection systems
nfpa 20, stationary fire pumps
nfpa 13, automatic sprinkling systems
nfpa 70, national electrical code
osha standard 29 cfr 1910, subpart i & s
any state and federal regulations related to requested services
2. Work items, definitions, and references shall comply with the most current edition of the nfpa codes for inspection & testing specifications. Below is a list of equipment that shall be inspected and /or tested:
1. Inspection
proper number and type of spare sprinklers annually
visible sprinklers annually
1. Free of corrosion and physical damage
2. Free of obstructions to spray patterns
3. Free of foreign materials including paint
4. Liquid in all glass bulb sprinklers
c. Visible pipe annually
1. In good condition
2. No mechanical damage and no leaks
3. Proper alignment and no external loads
4. Visible pipe hangers and seismic braces not damaged
5. Adequate heat in areas with wet piping
