Expression of Interest are invited for Initial Assessment of IFCs Partner Waste Management Company Business Expansion Plan in Papua New Guinea
In PNG, local expertise and capabilities with respect to waste treatment of hazardous wastes (HW) is very limited, thus waste is exported to Australia for treatment, substantially increasing overall costs for clients and increasing the E&S risks of transboundary movement.
IFC is working with a waste management company in PNG to support the company in its business expansion in the industrial hazardous and non-hazardous waste sectors in PNG. The successful expansion of the company will provide much-needed sustainable waste treatment services for private entities, especially multinational companies that are operating in PNG.
The project is aligned with WBGs strategy in reducing marine plastics and promoting Blue Economy. In particular, it improves livelihoods and creates green jobs for people in PNG and the wider Pacific region, while preserving the health of marine and coastal ecosystem
