Tenders are invited for Field Studies to Evaluate the Carbon Emissions Reductions of an Institutional Improved Cookstoves Project in Ghana
o pattern of cooking practices (number of meals cooked during the day, number

plates served per day etc)

 To conduct a minimum 5-day field tests on the proposed improved institutional

cookstoves, to evaluate the following parameters -

o the quantity of firewood used for cooking/day in the target institutions/schools

where the improved cookstoves are installed. The data should be collected &

analysed as per the KPT (kitchen performance test) protocol proposed by the carbon

standard (Gold Standard).

o patterns of cooking practices (number of meals cooked during the day, number

plates served per day etc)

 Select and propose the applicable carbon methodology to evaluate the potential of the

biomass/charcoal savings and potential carbon credits per improved institutional

cookstoves.

 To determine the risks on health and environment of both the traditional cookstoves and

the proposed institutional improved cookstoves.

BUDGET

Up to 10 000 € excluding taxes will be available to support field studies, travelling and logistics for

the above studies. Applications will be evaluated based on the quality of the proposal and the

appropriateness of the budget for the proposed work.

APPLICANTS PROFILE REQUIREMENT:

- The consultant preferably has a minimum of 5 years of experience, of which around 3 years

of professional experience in climate policy and developing climate mitigation projects

under carbon market programs such as Gold Standard, VCS and Clean Development

Mechanism (CDM).

- The expert should understand domestic and international carbon markets, including

voluntary carbon markets.

PROPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS

Please submit a proposal describing the following (maximum of 10 pages):

- Description of proposed field studies to be conducted (including number of samples), and

any other relevant information.

- Detailed sample collection and analysis methods to be applied to evaluate the potential

carbon emissions reductions from project.

- Unique qualifications and relevant previous experience of the team on similar field

studies/projects/assignments.

- Biographical summaries of team conducting the proposed work

- Budget (including the travelling and logistics)

- Proposed timeline and approach for completing the work. The timeline should include

dates for the activities and specific deliverables as outlined in the scope of work.
