ETH Zurich, CAB/CNB replacement building automation, BKP 243/244, heat distribution/ventilation systems In order to achieve a uniform design at the automation level, outdated motors and contactor-based star-delta and step circuits are replaced eliminated. In many places, the motors and/or fans and pumps are also replaced. Pumps and fans with EC motors (with a built-in commutation unit) are used in all non-critical systems. For critical systems Asynchronous motors with external frequency converters are used. In HVAC systems, the LE, LK and group valve drives are generally replaced, and volume flow and pressure measurements are replaced and/added (especially 4-20mA sensors). The ERR will... Cooling ceiling valve drives and room controls/sensors replaced by Modbus-capable field devices. The radiator valves and dew point monitors are connected conventionally using I/O.
