Description : Background

The global health system has changed over the years and it has resulted in changes in the clinical practice guidelines and health workforce competency standards. This has also introduced an opening to new risks due to outdated or non-existent legislation. Hence, improving and strengthening of the legal framework governing overall practice and competency of healthcare workers has become more important.

The Republic of Nauru's Department of Health and Medical Services and Department of Justice and Border Control have partnered with the World Health Organization (WHO) and Pacific Open Learning Health Net (POLHN), to draft the necessary Bills to govern the current health related practices and competencies in the Republic.

Purpose of the Contract

Working closely with the WHO Division of Pacific Technical Support (DPS), Department of Health Medical Services and Department of Justice and Border Control, the consultant will conduct thorough research diagnostic and develop country-specific national Hospital and Medicines Bills in-line with the country's Constitution and will prepare necessary documents for submission to the Cabinet for the approval of the Bills.

The selected consultant will work under the supervision of:

Responsible Officer: Mohammed Yasin, Technical Officer, Pacific Health Systems and Policy, Division of Pacific Technical Support

Manager: Martina Pellny, Team Coordinator Pacific Health Systems
