Description : BACKGROUND

In 2018, the Vanuatu Ministry of Health (MoH) developed the Vanuatu Digital Health Strategy "Information for Action" (2019-2021. The strategy provides a time-bound, practical, and cost-effective plan for the development of a set of integrated information systems that will support the achievement of the goals of Vanuatu 2030: The People's Plan (National Sustainable Development Plan 2016 2030) and the current Health Sector Strategy (HSS) 2017 2020. Implementation of the Digital Health Strategy is broken down into four interrelated streams of work:



• Foundational building blocks

• Patient information systems

• Health Management Information System

• Primary health care



PURPOSE/SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE OF THE ACTIVITY

A consultant is required to assist the Ministry of Health to implement specific elements of the Digital Health Strategy outlined below.

Working with the WHO HIS Technical Officer and assisting the Ministry of Health HIS team:



• Modify the current data dictionary into a user-friendly registry and train HIS staff how to maintain, update and use the registry.

• Develop specifications for ICD coding in the interim hospital patient administration system, and for extracting, storing and reporting data through the national reporting platform, VanHMIS (which utilises the DHIS2 software).
