Library Services Platform (LSP)

The libraries involved in the acquisition cooperation tender together the Library Services Platform (LSP), which contains the tools for the management of printed and e-resources. LSP enables the libraries to perform their services, both internally and externally, and offer APIs for interoperability and custom development. The LSP simplifies library operations through a more inclusive platform designed to handle all the different forms of content (digital as well as printed).

General description of the Library Services Platform (LSP): The libraries involved in the acquisition cooperation tender together the LSP, which contains the tools for the management of printed and e-resources. LSP enables the libraries to perform their services, both internally and externally, and offer APIs for interoperability and custom development. The LSP simplifies library operations through a more inclusive platform designed to handle all the different forms of content (digital as well as printed). The LSP shall contain the following parts/functions:

— tools for the fulfillment services (physical material circulation processes and accessibility for electronic and digital material),

— search system for the staff needs,

— acquisition tools for printed and e-resources,

— tools for managing the collections,

— cataloguing environment for metadata production,

— metadata reserves of the libraries and the consortiums,

— the system administrator's interface and tools for the technical management of the LSP,

— tools for resource usage etc. analytics,

— the platform offers APIs with sufficient properties to connect the LSP to the external systems such as o Customer interface/(s) o The information systems of the host organizations of the libraries (e.g., the student register)

—— National service architecture,

—— External (meta) data reserves,

—— Systems of the suppliers of printed and e-resources,

—— Self-service devices The LSP contains an interface or interfaces for the use of the library staff.

The platform shall enable the flexible handling of both printed and electronic resources and management of the licensing information of e-resources. The platform can be connected to the information system environment of the libraries. We ask for the tender of a LSP-specific optional discovery interface, which the libraries can optionally separately decide to acquire into their use. Some of the libraries will use open source interfaces. Appendix 10 List of Appendices with explanations. A summary list of appendices Offered system and thus the prices must include all mandatory requirements and also any promised feature (should-feature).
