UNICEF works in some of the world-s toughest places, to reach the world-s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.
Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.
And we never give up.
For every child, a safe environment
Background
UNICEF is dedicated to environmental sustainability in its operations and a decent, healthy work environment. As per our greening policy issued in June 2015, UNICEF is stepping up its efforts to systematically green the organization, including reporting and investing in sustainable energy and resource efficient facilities and operations. This includes water, paper and waste management.

In 2019, UNICEF is scheduled to move to a common UN premises and will need support to ensure a decent healthy and environmentally friendly work space. The estimated space for relocation is about 650 m2 and will accommodate 28 working stations.

Further, UNICEF Guyana-Suriname Office continues to look at its environmental impact through reducing greenhouse gas emissions from air travel, vehicle fleets and facilities, and is committed to improve the accessibility of its premises to ensure that people with disabilities have adequate levels of comfort and mobility within inclusive UNICEF premises. The commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be maintained, through SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption & Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
