Description:

The Government of Saint Lucia through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) received a USD 5 million grant from the Government of Mexico to undertake a water supply project in Dennery.

UNOPS, functioning as the project management entity in accordance with the signed agreement with the Government of Saint Lucia, is managing the implementation of the project, while the Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) will facilitate the work of the representatives of UNOPS through follow-up, review and monitoring of project activities.
The beneficiary of the project is the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Co-operatives, and the Government of Saint Lucia and subsequently and most importantly the citizens of Dennery.
The sustainable operation of the system is key to ensure an enhanced level of service to the populations. Experience has proven that benefits are only achieved when hardware installation is fully integrated with properly planned and implemented arrangements for the long-term operation, maintenance and financing of an improved service.
The community of Dennery North deserves a system that is not only fully functional but is also resilient to the unique climatic conditions of the Caribbean region. For this reason, UNOPS wishes to incorporate sustainability by implementing structures that improve the efficiency of the water treatment process as well as creating a safe and comfortable working environment for the end-users.

Can you please clarify if this means that fabrication must be carried out in St. Lucia?
