Detailed_Description : Construction of a 2, 500 sq ft Research Centre along with renovation of an existing building (Visitor Centre). The Ministry, along with an engineer, has designed the building. Structural, mechanical, and electrical master drawings are included in the RFB documents.This procurement includes construction of the new Research Centre foundation and structure, including slab-on-grade construction with micropiles, below-grade plumbing, electrical installation, and completion of service to the new building.The project is located at the Codrington Fisheries Research Facility, 15 Fish Hatchery Rd, Codrington, Ontario, K0K 1R0.
Scope of Work : Structural• Renovations to existing Visitor Centre to house effluent treatment from the new Research Centre• Construction of the new Research Centre foundation including slab-on-grade construction, micropiles, and structural componentsMechanical• Installation of all below-grade plumbing and drains within the foundation• Installation of HVAC systems including HRVs, ductwork, and heat pumps• Installation of drains and basins for effluent treatment system in the Visitor Centre• Installation of new well system including submersible pump and buried insulated water line• Note: above-grade tanks, aquaculture plumbing and equipment for the Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) is not included in this RFB (Shown in mechanical drawings included in the package to assist with drain/below-grade plumbing locations).Electrical• Installation of new electrical service and associated upgrades including connection to new building• Installation of backup generator and transfer switch (including service upgrades as required under Contract Documents and Hydro One Service Contract)• Installation of electrical distribution and building systems for the Research Centre and Visitor Centre• Underground electrical connections between buildings and related worksProject PurposeThis RAS will enable temperature-controlled aquaculture research, including climate-related studies and the ability to raise additional fish species not commonly supported in a hatchery environment.
