Brief description of the tender: On January 1, 2025, the updated Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive entered into force, according to which member states must remove micropollutants from pharmaceuticals and cosmetics in certain wastewater treatment plants. To achieve this goal the directive provides for the implementation of the fourth stage of purification and the development of an extended producer responsibility system (EPR) to finance it. As a result of this analysis, it must become clear what the actual socioeconomic impact of EPR requirements is on pharmaceutical and to the cosmetic sector market in Estonia, including product prices and market stability.
