Tender Details
Tenders are invited for Advancing Gender Equality Opportunities in Kenya's Fisheries
To gain a comprehensive understanding of labor market outcomes and challenges encountered by individuals in Kenya's fisheries sector; particularly focusing on women; as well as to assess the sector's adaptability to climate change; the main objective of this activity is to conduct a georeferenced household survey. The survey will be conducted in eight lake/river counties and six coastal counties. By concentrating on these specific 12 coastal and inland communities; the survey will yield more comprehensive and detailed data regarding labor market dynamics within the fisheries sector. This; in turn; will enable us to address critical issues and tailor interventions more effectively. Additionally; the household-based survey will explore opportunities for diversifying livelihoods by engaging in more sustainable and resilient blue economy sectors; such as marine and island aquaculture; along with the relevant skills in demand. The collected data will be disaggregated by gender; allowing for vulnerability measurement across various population groups; with a particular emphasis on women and youth. Additionally; the georeferenced data collected will be linked with external climate and weather-related data obtained from existing databases. This linkage will facilitate the assessment of climate-related hazard exposure for individuals engaged in fisheries. To provide additional context and nuance; a series of qualitative Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Semi-Structured Interviews (SIIs) will complement the quantitative data collection; further refining our understanding of the collected information.
